Term 2 Week 9 - Thursday 26 June 2025
Principals Message

We have a large group of students who will be celebrating their First Communion at Masses this coming weekend. Congratulations to all our students and to their families who have walked this journey with them.
Gospel: Matthew 16: 13-19
And Jesus came into the quarters of Caesarea Philippi: and he asked his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that the Son of man is? But they said: Some John the Baptist, and other some Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets. Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am?
Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God.
And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven.
Bugs and Illness
There are many of the usual winter bugs currently within our wider community. This has had an impact on student attendance. I understand that having children at home when both parents are working is challenging, especially leading into a school holiday break. However, if your child is unwell, please do not send them to school. Next week, we have our Dance Concert and it would be great to have all children attend, however, we don’t want this at the cost of them then spending the first week of the holidays sick in bed. If your child needs a sleep in or a day off next week, and you are able to facilitate this, then please make the decision which is in the best interests of their short term and long term health.
Having said that, the students and staff have worked really hard all term to prepare for the concerts and it would be great to have as many present for the concerts as possible.

Student’s Departing St Jude’s at the end of 2025
I have been informed of a couple of families who are either moving interstate or overseas. Many of our year levels have waitlists and student numbers also impacts on budget and staffing. If you know that your children will not be attending St Jude's in 2026, can you please complete the form in the School News section of the newsletter.
Holiday Projects
You may have noticed that we have a fenced garden bed area over near the year 5 classrooms. This is because the irrigation pipes have become a trip hazard and the mulch has dissipated. During the school holiday period, we will have some edging installed and the garden bed topped up. We are also having some edging replaced in the garden area near the front entry.
Camp Australia Holiday Program
If you are requiring care during the upcoming holiday period, reach out to Camp Australia as they have a great program planned and have vacancies.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
