Term 2 Week 7 - Thursday 12 June 2025
Principals Message
Gospel: John 16: 12-15
I have yet many things to say to you: but you cannot bear them now.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth.
For he shall not speak of himself; but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak; and the things that are to come, he shall shew you.
He shall glorify me; because he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it to you.
All things whatsoever the Father hath, are mine. Therefore I said, that he shall receive of mine, and shew it to you.
Enrolments for 2026
I am currently working my way through meeting with the families of all our potential 2026 Kindergarten families. It has been wonderful to either reconnect with current families or meet new families. One of the questions I ask parents is ‘Why have you chosen St Jude’s?' The responses are very similar
- Academic reputation, excellent, dedicated teachers
- Strong and welcoming community
- Catholic Values
- Safe, nurturing environment
At this stage, we have received 69 applications, however, it is not unusual for more to come through in the coming months. We have also received applications for a number of other year levels. Thank you to everyone who plays a role in making St Jude’s the wonderful place it is.
Child Safety Advocate
On Wednesday I attended the Child Safety Advocate meeting, held at CE. At the meeting we were given updates in relation to Child Safety legislation. There was also significant discussion about online safety for children. A reminder that a number of resources are available for parents,. these are listed on the e-safety commissioner website. Messenger Junior was also discussed as a safer option for online chat between primary school aged children. Possibly the greatest recommendation is to continue to supervise and monitor your child’s online activity and to use recommended age ratings as your guide, what can sometimes appear harmless, can have long term effects.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Last week, you should have received the schedule for these meetings. They are being held next week (Week 8). At these meetings, teachers will outline your child’s report, highlighting areas of growth as well as developing goals for Semester 2 aligned with areas for development. These are very important conversations for both the teacher and the parents, please make them a priority. Bookings close tomorrow (13 June) at 12noon.
Late start or early departure
A gentle reminder that students who arrive late or depart early need to be either signed in or out by their respective adult at the front office. We need to be able to account for every child’s whereabouts and having adults complete the sign in or out process ensures that we follow CE protocol.
Colder Weather
On really cold days, I am seeing that there are some students wearing different coloured clothing. Unfortunately, the cold weather is not going away any time soon. There are also some students who are wearing sports shoes on non sports days. The expectation is that students are wearing all black shoes on blue uniform days. The uniform shop, which is staffed by volunteers, has a large variety of new and high quality second hand clothing. Please reach out to them to ensure that your child is wearing the appropriate clothing.

Thank you for your ongoing support
Cameron

RE News
First Eucharist Preparations
Reconciliation before Eucharist prepares a person to receive the Eucharist without sin. A sacrament of healing and forgiveness, it restores their relationship with God.
Fr Loi will be coming to the school for children preparing for their First Eucharist. Reconciliation will be at approximately 1pm on Friday 13 June, you are welcome to join your child if you would like. If you would prefer your child to attend with you at a different time, please let Fr Loi know at sacramentOLA@cg.org.au and he will organise a time with you. Please then let your child and teacher know so they do not take them on Friday.
This weekend, 14/15 June is the Gathering Mass for children to hand their workbook in. Fr Loi will look through them and return them to at the reflection hour of June 24.
ELC News
A big thank you to Constable Kenny and his friend Tim who came to visit the ELC this week to talk about staying safe in our community. He talked about what to do if we get lost and safe people that can help us like policemen, shop assistants in uniform or parents with children. He also talked about staying safe in the car (sitting in the back seat with our seatbelts on) and crossing the road (holding Mum or Dad’s hand).

Important reminder
A reminder to drivers to slow down and take extra care when driving near the school, particularly the school crossing. If someone is on the crossing, you must stop and wait until they have fully crossed before proceeding.
