Term 2 Week 1 - Thursday 1 May 2025
Principal's Message
This week’s Gospel : Jn 14: 6 – 14
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me. If you had known me, you would have known my Father also; henceforth you know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and we shall be satisfied.” Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you do not know me, Philip? He who has seen me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father in me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on my own authority; but the Father who dwells in me does his works. Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father in me; or else believe me for the sake of the works themselves.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.
A seamless return
All of our students have returned to St Jude’s and learning has continued, almost seamlessly. Thank you for all that you do behind the scenes to assist your child with returning, we understand that some of our students worry about friendships, being accepted, liked and even routine and familiarity of each day. It is credit to you, and the work that you do to reassure and give appropriate strategies when dealing with challenges. Our students know that it is important to be kind and we are grateful for the reinforcing of this that occurs at home.
Open Day
This morning we held tours and our awesome Year 6 leaders were run off their feet with many visitors, having heard wonderful things about St Jude’s, wanting to see it for themselves. As is always the case, our leaders did a fantastic job. We have more tours this afternoon from 4 – 6 pm, with over 35 of our Year 6 leaders giving their time to stay back and facilitate tours. At the writing of this newsletter, we already have 35 Kindergarten enrolment forms submitted, once we get to 50, we guarantee 2 classes, with around 70 being the magic number for 3 classes. If you are aware of anyone who may be looking for a change of school or a start in Kindergarten, please send them our way.
Election BBQ and Cake stall
We are still a few hands short, if you are able to assist, please click on this link as it assists with topping up our fundraising account, which is targeted at the oval redevelopment.
Oval
The new irrigation system has been installed over the holiday period. The next phase is the covering of the goal squares with a softer surface, then in mid term 4 the oval will be closed for new turf to be laid. The oval will remain closed until mid Term 1, 2026.

RE News
Welcome back!
We hope you had a blessed Easter break. This term is a busy term with our 50th anniversary coming up quickly. We will also continue our whole school focus on the Jubilee Year of Hope, keep an eye out for our lanterns of hope that will be hanging up around the school!
People of Hope
We are born to be people of hope but if we don't recognise hope in ourselves, it can never be given to others. Hope is more than just being positive.
- Hope is about trusting God's promises and believing in a better future, even when things are tough.
- It's like having a warm hug from God, reminding us of His love and knowing He'll always be with us.
- Hope is based on the belief that Jesus will return and we will live with Him forever in Heaven
- Hope is Trusting
- Hops is waiting. It is patience.
- Hope is confidence that something good will happen because God has promised it
What does hope look like in your life? How is hope present in your thoughts?

Mother’s Day Stall - 7 May
This year, we’re holding our much-loved Mother’s Day Stall on Wednesday, 7 May, 9-11am, where students can pick out a special gift for their mums. Items will be available for sale ranging from $2 to $10, so there’s something for every budget! To ensure the event runs smoothly, we’re looking for volunteers, preferably dads, to assist with setting up, running the stall, and helping the children select their gifts. Your time and effort will make this event memorable for all involved!
