Principal's Message

Gospel Reading:  John 6: 41-51

The Jews therefore murmured at him, because he had said: I am the living bread which came down from heaven. And they said: Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then saith he, I came down from heaven? Jesus therefore answered, and said to them: Murmur not among yourselves. No man can come to me, except the Father, who hath sent me, draw him; and I will raise him up in the last day. It is written in the prophets: And they shall all be taught of God. Every one that hath heard of the Father, and hath learned, cometh to me. Not that any man hath seen the Father; but he who is of God, he hath seen the Father. Amen, amen I say unto you: He that believeth in me, hath everlasting life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the desert, and are dead. This is the bread which cometh down from heaven; that if any man eat of it, he may not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world.

In an ever-evolving world it is wonderful to have things to celebrate as a nation. The performance of each of our Olympians give us cause to celebrate. Persistence, resilience, commitment, team work and dedication are a few of the attributes of Australia’s Olympians. Success and disappointment, humility, and gratitude also on display. With the announcement of Brisbane being awarded the Olympic Games of 2032 we can only hope that somewhere on our playground, there is a young girl or boy who is beginning to dream or plan their own Olympic dream.

School Fence

At this stage the gates will be added on August 12. As per my newsletter last week, details of open and close times were listed. I have already received several suggestions for how we can improve our outdoor spaces, as previously mentioned, we are looking at creating a master plan.

Enrolments for 2025

At the time of writing, we have some space in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Years 4 – 6 for 2025. We have waiting lists for both Year 2 and 3 for 2025. If you are aware of families within our enrolment area who have children in these year levels, please feel free to send them our way. We continue to offer school tours and our Year 6 students do an amazing job leading these tours.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Tell Them From Me Survey

In the coming weeks we will be inviting students, teachers and parents to provide feedback on their experience of our school using an online survey. The surveys are an important part of our whole school evaluation and planning process.

We would like to invite you to complete the Tell Them From Me (TTFM) Partners in Learning survey. As we value the role of parents and carers within our school community we would greatly appreciate your feedback. The information you provide will be used to maintain our commitment to working together in partnership to further improve student learning and wellbeing at St Jude's School.

The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. You are able to access the parent survey on your computer or mobile device by using the link below:

Illnesses

There are many illnesses in the community at the moment including influenza. If your child is unwell, please inform the ELC office and the teachers of symptoms or diagnoses as we are required to record this information to identify possible outbreaks. As always, it is important to keep children at home if they are unwell.

SJV Science excursion

On Wednesday of week 4 the Stingray class will be catching a bus to St John Vianney’s Primary school for an afternoon of science experiments and fun. Floriade Gnomes

Each year the ELC supports the Canberra Rotary Club’s Floriade Gnomes. We have purchased gnomes from Rotary for the children to paint in the lead up to Spring.  We are looking forward to creating our own gnome wonderland in the gardens around St Jude’s for our whole community to enjoy.

Gymnastics Term 4

We always receive great feedback from children and parents when we participate in the gymnastics program at Woden Valley Gymnastics Club. We are seeking input from all ELC families about another term of gymnastics. If you would like us to do a 9 week program in Term 4, please let us know on the document at the sign in desk.
